In addition to the tax-free holiday the Department of Financial Services’ is offering a Hurricane Toolkit “to help homeowners organize their financial information, so recovery can begin more quickly in the event of a disaster, along with a checklist they can use to review their insurance coverage with their agent.” All of this information can be found on fldfs.com.
I am confused as to why these types of measures were not taken in past years to better prepare Floridians for impending hurricane seasons? It seems to me preparation is only done after a major disaster instead of before. I suppose this apparent fact is due to our human curse of putting important things off to the end. Regardless if you live in Florida please visit the Florida Department of Financial Services website for preparedness procedures and general information about the upcoming hurricane season.

It is funny to see how states declare tax holidays for many reasons: school, huricanes, christmas...
It looks like the states have allied with the big retailers for a "One Day Sale" :)
Get people out of their couches into the Malls.
