Governor Of Michigan Failed To File Unemployment Insurance Reports For Nanny
The Governor of Michigan Jennifer Granholm and her husband Dan Mulhern did not file unemployment compensation insurance reports for their kids nanny according to this article.  The couple did not know they were in arrears for more than a year and that a lien had been put on their former house.  The penalties and interest totaled over $800.

Funny thing is they sold that house over a year ago with or without the supposed lien.  I guess the system was not working so seamlessly on reporting this lien.

There were no notices sent to the couple at their new home about the penalities they owed.  They actually found out because of a notification from an Associated Press reporter who had found the information while going through public records.
This points out the ever present fact in my life that everyone makes mistakes.  Even if you are the Governor you can still forget to file unemployment insurance for your nanny.  The governmental bodies responsible for this “snafu” are not perfect because it is run by humans prone to making mistakes.
