The letter states “By extending the enrollment deadline and delaying late enrollment penalties, we can make sure that our constituents are not forced to make hasty decisions about their health care.” An extension has already been granted to some low-income individuals.
Pharmacists are having a difficult time filling the drug orders they receive at their counters because of the numerous “different standards for communicating with plans over coverage issues.” According to Bruce Roberts, executive vice-president of the National Community Pharmacists Association, “The frustration that it causes…I just can’t tell you how frustrating it is.”
This issue seems to be not just about giving more people time to sort out their Medicare plan but possibly revamping Part D. Without going into great detail about how Part D works suffice it to say the structure could do with some changes. Considering the amount of confusion across the board regarding Part D I think consumers deserve a simpler plan.
Let me know your experiences in dealing with Medicare Part D.

Social Security found me disabeled and notified me 10 days ago. I recieved my
Medicare Card at the same time.
I have no family, no close neighbors,
dont drive, and my computer is ancient and has no printer.
I take massive medications resulting
in foggy thinking, and I cant remember
anything.
I did call the pharmacist. He was so
helpful. He gave me literature and told me to pick one of the 27 plans, the one that would be most helpful to me. I have 4 days to enroll.
It seems unreasonable to make such an important decision without thought,or opportunity to investigate
what plan would be in my best interest.
I have so little money, and it seems
very likely because of this hasty decision I will have much less from now on.
